Last week students created AMAZING Kente cloth paper weavings with precision and detail. They wove paper strips to add a sense of texture, while using pattern and design to execute their artwork. We LOVE how they turned out!

This week students are studying the color wheel and creating their own Mandala. To begin they fill in one pie piece with a simple design using a variety of shapes. Next, they fill in the other 11 pie pieces with the same design that is balanced and symmetrical. Use this MANDALA TEMPLATE to get started. After you have filled in your whole mandala, color it in. Since we are studying the color wheel this week, we are coloring it in the order of the color wheel. To make it POP, use a variety of values that range from light to dark. When the artwork is complete you can cut your mandala out and glue to a piece of paper. You can create mandalas using all kinds of shapes and designs. Have fun with it and be creative!
This is our Art Room... C7! My FAVORITE room in the WHOLE school. I wanted to share this picture with my students because this is the first time that many of you have seen our actual class- especially 6th graders. Even though our room is empty, I'm still so excited to be able to work with all of you from a distance. I'm looking forward to a great quarter/semester with you and I am very much enjoying all of your artwork. Keep up the good work and have fun creating :)
It was a super busy week in the art room with lots of preparations to make student art folders and art kits for those who need to borrow supplies. All art students will need to pick up their materials for art class on either Tuesday, August 25th or Thursday, August 27th. Pick up times are as follows: AUGUST 25 OR 27th: 8:00am-9:00am: 6th Grade 9:00am-10:00am: 7th Grade 10:00am-11;00am: 8th Grade Upon arrival, please wear a mask and stay in your vehicle. Pull up to the front of the school and display a sign with your child's name, grade, and period. Your materials will be delivered to you. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Wada-Goode.

Dear Students and Parents,
Aloha! School will be starting soon and your WMS teachers are preparing for your arrival. We are ready to welcome back our old students and we are looking forward to greeting new ones. I realize that this year will be a new adventure for all of us, but we will navigate it together! This year students will need to bring their own art supplies to lessen the sharing of supplies. These supplies are separate from other requested school supplies, as students will keep their supplies in the art room. They will be stored in their personal cubby and they will only be used by the student. Please label all supplies and put in a zip lock bag. Supplies should brought to school during the first week. Please use this list to shop for supplies: Marker Set Crayon Set Color Pencil Set Watercolor Set (8 colors) 1 Black Fine Point Sharpie 4 Regular Pencils 1 Glue Stick Scissors Eraser Sharpener 1 Inch Binder 1 Roll Paper Towels I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer break! I am looking forward to a new school year. Please contact me if you have any questions. Respectfully, Mrs. Wada-Goode |
