Etegami, also known as "Picture Letters" are a Japanese form of watercolor that are done on small postcards. The maker creates a postcard with a heartfelt message paired with an image from nature. Students created their own collection of lively etegami postcards.

This week 8th Graders used Hawaiian flowers and tropical plants for their watercolor subject. They practiced mixing and layering the watercolor paint. Check them out!
This week students created dot paintings inspired by Aboriginal artwork. They created a silhouette that was glued down to a piece of color paper. They filled in their paper with patterns and designs using a dotting technique with paint and/or markers.

Inspired by the spirit and nature of our beautiful islands, students created their own original Hawaiian postcards. Using the design process students first completed a draft before working on their final postcard. These will be a great addition to a care package or fun way to share Aloha with a friend!
